Green AGRO CS
Ecology and related activities move the world and affect us all, even if indirectly. Our goal is to be a "green company" - a company that is not indifferent to the protection of the planet and that wants to participate in its restoration. We thus come up with projects that are oriented towards the return of beneficial insect species to nature and the expansion of greenery in our country. The company's current share in the EKO-KOM recycling system already proves that the production of greenhouse gases is decreasing and the volume of recyclables is increasing. We also think about our nature and natural resources, which is why we are gradually trying to focus only on renewable sources.
We want to implement activities that go against the above ideas. Our educational program Little Gardener, intended for kindergartens, is proof that developing awareness of organic farming and nature in general makes sense even for the youngest generations. We develop products that are not only carriers of a healthy lifestyle (the Agro NATURA line), but also protect our soil. Products that help the earth return its strength, energy and fertility. A return to nature is a return to our nature. Let's preserve the natural wealth of our country and treat plants wisely and sensitively; let's take from nature only what we are allowed to, so that it will continue to give us in the future...
Low-energy building
The administrative building is being reconstructed according to "low-energy rules", with high thermal insulation properties and a green roof. A large number of windows ensure natural light throughout the day, thereby saving electricity. Shading technology using external blinds contributes to a significant reduction in the building's overheating (reduction in air conditioning). The building also features a green cooling roof.
Solar future
We implemented a project to build a solar power plant on the roof of an industrial building, the aim of which is to increase the production of electricity from renewable sources and with their help optimize the provision of electricity for our own business activities at the Říkov and V Lukách plants. The solar power plants have an output of almost 349 kWp and 168 kWp, which represents an annual optimal total of approximately 500 MWh of electricity from renewable sources. The project is co-financed by the European Union.
Own wood fiber processing line
From an ecological point of view, peat extraction is an irreversible process and its replacement with wood fiber contributes to environmental protection. AGRO CS as did not want to, and could not, stand aside from this trend. Currently, in modern operations, approximately 20-30% of peat is replaced with wood fiber in selected substrates. That is why we have developed and constructed a wood fiber processing line, the only one of its kind in Central Europe.
Recyclable pallets
These are plastic, 100% recyclable pallets that have a smaller carbon footprint thanks to a 5x longer lifespan than wooden pallets. They are resistant to moisture, insects, mold and acids; they do not contain nails and chips = greater safety for people + lower probability of damage to goods + lower depreciation/returns of goods. The LCA study certification shows a 74% lower environmental impact compared to wooden pallets.
Own hydroelectric power plant
This power plant originally dates from the first half of the 19th century (the first hydroelectric power plant in Bohemia), but it was completely renovated in 2011. We are thus preserving this technical unique piece in an operational state for future generations. The electricity it produces supplies our production center in V Lukách - the former TIBA.
Participation in the EKO-KOM sorting system
Not only by working with our products, we "make the world more beautiful" together. AGRO CS as behaves responsibly towards the environment and manages packaging carefully, thereby contributing to reducing greenhouse gas production. We actively participate in the system of combined fulfillment of obligations for the take-back and utilization of packaging waste, which is provided by EKO-KOM as within the framework of the emissions savings program.
